19th C. Parian Ware Wall Shelf Art Nouveau Mother's Love Swan vs Serpents
A scarce 19th-century Parian ware wall bracket modeled as a long-necked bird (looks to be a swan) protecting her egg-laden nest from two approaching serpents. It is a picture of a mother's love to put her own life at risk to protect her young.
The unglazed white porcelain body displays exceptional craftsmanship throughout.
The detail of this picture-telling shelf remains incredibly crisp, a detail often lost as molds wear over time. Considerably better modeled than most examples, this bracket shows the hallmarks of an early, well-preserved mold.
Original keyhole wall mounts intact. Perfect for displaying a small oil lamp, bust, vase, or Victorian decorative object.
