Unusual Primitive Lard Whale Oil Hand Lamp w/ Large Drip Catcher Tray Base 1700s

Unusual antique primitive tin or sheet iron lard or whale oil hand lamp featuring a large tray drip catcher with nicely curved finger loop. The font displays a fairly wide wick opening and two round holes at the opposite end—one fitted with wire of uncertain original purpose.

Condition is consistent with age; working condition unknown. A fixed wick remains in the font and was not removed during inspection.

Approximate measurements: 7 1/2" high overall; tray section 9 1/2" x 6 1/2"; wick opening 1 7/8" long; font section 4 5/8" end to end; finger loop 2 1/4" diameter.
