Pair of 18th Century Chelsea Porcelain Plates / Pheasant and Floral / No Chips
It's hard to believe these plates are well over 200 years old, but here they are. This is a lovely pair, one with the pheasant motif on a branch with a pretty rococo style border and the other with the floral motif, scalloped and swirled rococo rim - both trimmed in gilt.
When held to the light, the "Chelsea moon" blobs show through and back-lighting allows the green / yellow to show through. Each plate has the tiny gold anchor painted over the glaze on the underside.
Approximate measurements (may vary slightly):
Pheasant plate: 8 3/8" diameter, 1 1/8" deep
Floral plate: 8 1/2" diameter, 1 1/4" deep
Condition: very nice antique condition - amazingly, no chips or cracks - a couple of very tiny flakes to the ground rim on the underside
